Window of Opportunity

Join Window Accents as they welcome a new member to their team, Shaun Lyon. The youngest child of owners Kim and Greg Lyon, Shaun steps into the family business naturally, with a deep knowledge of contracting and five years of expertise gained from working in the commercial flooring industry as a manufacturer’s sales rep. Prior to that, he launched his professional career as an eighth grade teacher at Mason City Schools. Now his passion for business finds him prepped and ready for installations, in-home consultations and showroom recommendations.

Primary Creativity

Color me crazy—those crayons are life-size! Thanks to a generous donation from the LaMacchia family, our very own Symmes Library is now home to a colorful addition—innovative iPad kiosks known as Krayon Kiosks. Helping promote interactive learning and literacy skills of young children, up to four kiddos at a time can explore reading apps to discover sounds, phonics, spelling and more. Draw your own conclusions, but we think it’s a vibrant new tool that boosts this branch’s hands-on fun.

Hello, Birdie!

For fans of all things Thunderdome (we’re talking the Eagle, Maplewood, Bakersfield, Currito), our own Harper’s Point is the new nest for CityBird, a fast-casual eatery boasting the best chicken tenders and made-from-scratch sauces (claim confirmed). CityBird’s second roost has a spacious dining area (rather than the grab-and-go-only of their OTR location), but features the same house-brined, hand-dredged, fresh-fried chicken as their big brother, the Eagle. Opening day was a hit, with 50 early birds getting a meal on the house and proceeds benefiting Loveland’s NEST Community Learning Center.

Sports Buff

Athletic-based training—it’s not just for competitive athletes. Regardless of activity or experience levels, D1 Training has opened up the field to anyone wanting to step up their game. No strangers to high-level health and fitness themselves, owners Chris Witzgall and Troy McCracken put five proven tenants into play at their new Fields Ertel location—for both serious sports stars or casual fitness buffs. Workouts are re-optimized every eight weeks (think battle ropes, weights and exercise balls), keeping your training on the turf on track with your real-life goals.
